Talk about an expensive date: a young woman from Youxian, Hunan stole a bag of cash from the trunk of a man's BMW after the two met up at a bar. The man, Tan, had added the woman, Zhao, on social media and had asked her out on a date. They chatted for a bit and he offered to pick her up in his BMW so that they could get a hotel room together.
Before they went up to the room, Tan somehow dropped his car keys while getting something in the trunk of his car. The two searched around the trunk for the keys, and Zhao happened to glimpse a bag packed with cash. When they found the keys, Zhao closed the lid of the trunk super lightly so that it would not lock properly.
When Tan was asleep in the hostel room, Zhao crept out of the room, opened the trunk of the BMW and grabbed the bag of cash. It had 48,000 Yuan in it. Not something you want to leave lying around during a one night stand! Luckily for Tan, the whole theft was caught on the hotel's surveillance system. Unfortunately, it seems like police had a tough time actually tracking Zhao down. On April 12, Zhao was finally arrested by Youxian police on the suspicion of theft.

it's not "suspicion" if she actually stole it-- she was arrested for actually stealing it

There once was a man named Tan. Who decided to stash his cash. Little did he know, that he would have trouble… with the trunk of his BMW. Along came a woman from Hunan, who was a bit less than human. So she decided to steal some loot, from poor ole Tan's boot.

yeah I noticed that too. Nice hotels here are so crazy cheap too. 5-star international hotel outside of peak season can be <$200. It's not like Tokyo or HK where even if you're doing OK you gotta think about something like that.

Keeping that much cash in one's trunk is asking for trouble.

You know it is pretty much true. Most wealthy, successful, intelligent people don't want everyone knowing they are loaded. The people important to them already know and it attracts all the wrong kind of attention or people.
