Thinking of studying abroad? You’d be wise to consider Chinese universities.

According to the much respected Times Higher Education Asia Rankings, Tsinghua University and Peking University are the second and third best in Asia. Go China!

Universities across Asia were judged on a wide ranging criteria, including international outlook, research, teaching and knowledge transfer.

This year’s list includes 350 universities from 25 countries and regions.

Singapore’s National University annoyingly topped the list for the third year in a row, while Tsinghua University overtook Pekinng to become China’s best higher learning institution.

However, Peking University still ranked higher than Tsinghua in the Times Higher Education World Rankings due to different categories carrying more weight.

Tsinghua and Peking came out 27th and 30th in the World Rankings, respectively, giving a boost to the reputation of Chinese universities abroad.

In the World Rankings, Japan is the Asian country/region boasting the most listings, with 89 of its universities getting a nod.

Chinese universities came second with the inclusion of 63 institutions in the table.

Both Taiwan and Thailand fell in the rankings.

The top 10 Asian universities are as follows:

1. National University of Singapore

2. Tsinghua University

3. Peking University

4. University of Hong Kong

5. (TIE) Hong Kong University of Science and Technology

5. (TIE) Nanyang Technological University

Oh my, yes, Chinese education is the best in all the land - that must be why my former English student pursuing her master's in the states didn't even know what plagiarism was when she was nearly expelled for it last term. China is best China! On a serious note though, is anyone else having problems using eChinaCities for, ya know, jobs? I can no longer upload photos or files, all the buttons feature worse Chinglish than in 2014 and scarcely anyone seems to be commenting on its flattering articles any longer. What happened to this site and what are people using in its place?

Tokyo University is not the 8th best in Asia, it is one of the best in the world.

For those of us that have taught in Chinese universities and seen cheating and taking final exams again if you fail, writing anything good about mainland Chinese universities just looks like a propaganda piece of literature and I don't even want to start on copying others papers and paying for papers that they don't write.

MrAngel

Plagiarism in college is a problem, but is not solely a China problem.

I agree, but the Chinese are the experts, everybody else is just amateurs trying to be as good as they are at the problem.
