Editor's Note: Like the popular dating 'If You are the One', single women in China can afford to be picky when selecting suitors. What do women want? According to a recent survey, Chinese women are looking for an above average salary, especially as they get older. In a country where men are expected to outnumber women by 24 million by 2020, combined with a widening income gap, the dating scene here has become notoriously brutal. Especially when your mom won't stop bothering about getting married. The translated article reports on the result of the dating survey.

Curious about Chinese singles? A domestic dating site released some facts on what Chinese single men and women are really looking for. Who wants money, and who is holding out for their perfect match? Who are the loneliest people in China? Jiayuan.com has the answers.

Chinese dating site Jiayuan.com recently released the data from its huge annual survey. The 2015 survey was answered by 14,697 singles from across China with an even male to female ration.

1) Woman Want a Man Who Earns at Least 6,701 Yuan
The minimum monthly salary that a single women looks for in a boyfriend is 6,701 Yuan. Women in their thirties are a bit more demanding and want a boyfriend who earns at least 6,993 Yuan per month. Those in their twenties are a little more forgiving, and will date men who earn 6,534 Yuan and up. Women also say that their husband’s salary should not be reduced after they get married.

2) Single Women in Their Thirties are Looking for Money
Do women expect to manage their husband’s salaries? 74% of women said that they do not expect this to happen, but they would not reject money from their boyfriend or husband. Women in their thirties are more likely to want a piece of their husband’s income. 78% of them said that they would take the initiative to do so.

3) Men are Lonelier than Women
We probably could have guessed this one: Chinese men are generally lonelier than their female counterparts. Less educated, poorer men are lonelier than wealthy, educated men. Those with more money and education are much less lonely. However, singles in their twenties were more likely to be lonely: men had 75 points, and women had 68 points.

4) Is it Important to Find Your Perfect Match?
33% of men and 50% of women agreed that “marriage should be with a good match.” Shanghai men care the most about finding their “perfect match”—46% of them are holding out for it.

5) Age, Looks, and Income are Most Important
Men care most about looks (68%), age (64%) and education (25%) when it comes to dating. Women care about age (61%), looks (60%), income (60%), and if their date has a house (46%).

In The Political Testament of Adolf Hitler, Hitler stated, "Pride in one's own race – and that does not imply contempt for other races – is also a normal and healthy sentiment. I have never regarded the Chinese or the Japanese as being inferior to ourselves. They belong to ancient civilizations, and I admit freely that their past history is superior to our own. They have the right to be proud of their past, just as we have the right to be proud of the civilization to which we belong. Indeed, I believe the more steadfast the Chinese and the Japanese remain in their pride of race, the easier I shall find it to get on with them." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honorary_Aryan

Insightful analysis. Chinese society is far more advanced compared to English-speaking ones in terms of progressing long term relationships, raising families, filial piety etc. The social mores are still intact despite the influence of technology / globalisation on attitudes and customs. Foreign expats / immigrants can learn a lot from this.
