Beijing Media and Communications Ministry: President Hu is Not to Promote Toshiba
Nov 02, 2009 eChinacities.comAccording to Japan Kyodo News, the Beijing Ministry of Media and Communications has recently updated their regulations bulletin, forbidding inclusion of footage in televised and online video coverage of the National Day Parade in which President Hu can be seen reviewing the troops with a Toshiba ad in the center of the shot behind him.

Chinese netizens have heavily criticized Chinese national television CCTV for this obvious slight in the live broadcast of an important national event: “It is unpleasant, to say the least, for us to see a billboard advertising Japanese brand in the military parade for the National Day.”
The questionable footage shows President Hu going down Chang'an Avenue reviewing troops from atop his presidential ride; in the background is a billboard advertising Toshiba on the walls of the Beijing Hotel. This widely publicized footage could be seen in domestic and international media in reporting the National Day events.
