The earliest youth hostel in town, the Changsha International Youth Hostel (长沙国际青年旅舍) has an upscale, almost European feel. The hostel blends nice decoration with a messy youth vibe: the walls are covered in graffiti and names of those who have stayed there in the past. The staff at the front desk are friendly and will help with the purchase of train tickets, plane tickets, bicycle rentals and more. However, while travelers praise its cleanliness and atmosphere, there have been several complaints that there are no restaurants or entertainment venues within walking distance. A main selling point for the Changsha Shuyuan International Hostel (长沙书院国际青年旅舍) is that it’s located right next to the south gate of one of Changsha’s best traditional foot streets—Huangxing Pedestrian Street (黄兴路步行街). The hostel has a rooftop terrace with views of Orange Isle (橘子洲头) and the famous statue of Mao. 3) Huxiangyi Yuelu Mountain International Youth Hostel
Huxiangyi Yuelu Mountain International Youth Hostel (湖湘驿岳麓山国际青年旅舍) is located at the base of Yuelue Mountain. The hostel feels a bit like a private villa and even has a pool! The room are nothing special, but the surrounding natural area more than makes up for it. If you want to climb Yuelu Mountain then definitely stay here for several nights. The hostel is clean and comfortable, although it does not have the same funky global vibe as most other hostels. There is a garden terrace on the first floor where guests lounge around and drink coffee. The swimming pool is on the hillside terrace on the second floor and is great especially in the steamy Changsha summers. Free Wi-Fi.
