The 2012 iteration of the Bookworm International Literary Festival (BLF) – quickly becoming one of the city's institutions – will be held in Beijing from March 9-23rd. The BLF is "a unique celebration of literature and ideas in China, programming 100 events across three cities (Beijing, Suzhou and Chengdu), connecting over 70 Chinese and international writers and thinkers." Early bird tickets for the festival went on sale yesterday (Jan. 31st), and if this year's festival is anything like years past, the best events are likely to sell out fast. Right now, "Friends of the Festival" are the only ones eligible to purchase early bird tickets (you can become a FotF by contacting the organisers through the website, but it's going to cost you a 500 RMB, 1,000 RMB or 5,000 RMB "sponsorship"). If that sounds too expensive to you, general public tickets will go on sale starting February 6th. Check out the BLF website for more information on tickets, authors, events and becoming a festival volunteer.
