LOGIN/REGISTER
Why should I register?
Registering an account means becoming part of our ever-growing community, but that’s not all. You will also be able to post adverts in our classifieds section such as personals and accommodation, as well as create an online resume that will be read by stacks of potential employers. Registering takes only seconds, so why not?
I registered but I didn’t receive a confirmation email. What should I do?
After finishing the registration form, users will be led to a successful page telling them that a confirmation email will be sent to their email - there is also a “resend conformation” button worth pressing. If that doesn’t work, the most probable cause was a problem with the email address you entered. Try to register the same account again, with a working email address. If you still can’t, make sure your email provider isn’t blocking us or dumping our email in the spam. Last but not least, send us an email to cs@echinacities.com and we will look into it.
MY PROFILE
How do I access my profile?
To access your user profile, you first need to be logged in – do that here or by clicking the “Login” button on the header and you will be taken to your profile automatically. Or after you have logged in, you just need to click your username and voila, you are in.
How can I edit my profile?
After you have accessed the profile, it is really simple. Below your profile is an ‘Edit Profile’ button – click it. Here you will be able to change your password, change your location, subscribe to our newsletter and even attach a photo.
What does the ‘Messages’ tab do?
echinacities has an internal messaging system and this is where you can take advantage of it. You can write personal messages to other users to enquire about classifieds or jobs postings, or just make a new friend. Replies can be seen and kept safe in your inbox.
What does the ‘My Ads’ tab do?
Well, if you don’t know, I don’t know how to tell you. Okay, I do. ‘My Ads’ is a record of your currently open adverts, with the option to edit or delete them.

How do I post a comment?
Posting a comment is easy! At the bottom of every article is a simple comment form you can fill out, which includes space for your name, email and the comment itself. There is no requirement to include the name and email; it’s up to you. If you do decide to input them, the name will be used in the comment itself. The purpose of the email is to update you from our end if we come across anything we think you would like, but don’t worry, it will not be published or made public. We treat matters of privacy very seriously and we will never pass your details on to others.
How can I edit or delete my comment?
Our comment system is automated but to reduce spam and potential security risks, we don’t allow users to easily edit or delete their entries. If you do want to edit or delete a comment, send us an email with your revision to cs@echinacities.com and we’ll do it for you.
Does it matter if I am logged in?
Our comment system runs independent of user profiles at the moment, so logging in makes no difference. This is why you can’t see a login link on the article pages.
I saw featured comments on some pages. How do they get featured?
Featured comments are those that are chosen by our team of editors. We usually select comments that are interesting, useful or can evoke further discussion.
How can I post an article?
To do this, you should contact us directly. There is no automatic tool to post an article, since we like to get a chance to see them before they go live in order to gauge appropriateness and quality. Having said that, we do welcome all articles or pitches by email to editor@echinacities.com.
Can I get paid for writing?
Absolutely. Rates are determined by ability and experience, so why not get in contact now, at editor@echinacities.com, to find out more.

How can I post my resume online?
To do this, you first need to register an account. In the jobs section you will see a link in the top right of the page to ‘Create’ an online resume. The next screen is a brief introduction, with a large box saying ‘Create Online Resume’ – click it! After that, you just need to complete a form and wham, you are done.
Why should I post my resume online?
If you want a job, why not? eChinacities is fast becoming the place to find new jobs in China, which means employers are paying close attention. The question should not be why, but when. The answer - right now.
How can I update or delete my resume?
First enter your profile page by clicking on your username. Inside you will see a tab called “Update My Resume”– click that to do the update. Although there is no option to delete, users can unpublish their resume so that is it not seen by recruiters. The ‘Unpublish My Resume’ button can be found at the top of the resume page.
How can I post a job ad? Is it free?
To post a job ad, you first need to register an account. In the jobs section you will see a link in the top right of the page to ‘Post Jobs’.
The standard user is able to upload three ads per day, with no more than five in a week and 16 in a month. To get extend this limit, there are also paid memberships available.
How can I apply for a job I am interested in?
First you should click on the job you are in as you will then see a large button saying ‘Apply for the job.’ This will drop you down the page so that you can access a simple form, which is all you need to apply. Add your name, email address, upload your resume, write a cover letter, then sit back and wait for the reply. Just don’t write anything silly!
Do I need to register to apply for a job?
Not even slightly. Since your application to the job includes a chance to input your name and email address, there is no need to do so.
Why can’t I see the advertiser’s email directly in the job ad?
Everyone needs some element of privacy, even big business. Don’t worry, just because you can’t see it, doesn’t mean our wonderful form won’t work. Simple complete the application through our website and relax.
How will my application be delivered to the advertiser?
By email. We keep all the email addresses private, but we use them to pass on your application.
How can I get my ad featured at the top of the job listings?
Most of our services are free, but there are perks for those that don’t mind paying extra. Contact marketing@echinacities.com to find out what these are.
How will I know if my ad has been approved and published?
Our system will email you to say it has been approved. Once approved, it hits the website straight away.
Why can’t I post an ad?
This is most likely because you have hit your account limit. Check out paid memberships to find out how you can increase your capacity.
Why can’t I send my resume out?
When you attach your resume to the application form, make sure it is smaller than 300kb. The best way to achieve this is to focus on a text resume like those made in word, with a small photo included in the file if you want to stand out.
How can I judge whether an ad is a scam or not?
Use your brain as much as possible. Having said that, few scammers bother trying to write adverts for a fictional job. Just make sure to meet all companies at their office or at least in a public place.
CLASSIFIEDS:
How can I post a classified ad?
To do this you need to cruise into the classifieds section and hit the link that says ‘Post an ad’. You can also post them from your profile page.
How can I edit or delete my classified ad?
Enter your profile page by clicking on your username. Inside you will see a tab saying my ads. Any adverts you have posted and are still alive should be sitting right there. Edit or delete, the choice is yours.

Do this by clicking the newsletter link at the bottom of any page. Just enter your email address and it’s all done for you. To unsubscribe, simply follow the link at the bottom of a newsletter.
