Great Spots for Winter Skiing in Yinchuan

Great Spots for Winter Skiing in Yinchuan

Winter is coming, and while that may be an excuse for some to curl up with a good book and never leave the house, the more health-conscious among us are probably looking for ways to stay active during the months ahead. If you're looking to get a little fresh air along with your exercise, look no further than these four popular locations for skiing in Yinchuan.

1) Zhongshan Park SkiingView In Map
Located inside Yinchuan's biggest all-purpose park, Zhongshan is the perfect place for those with no car, who don't want to travel too far, but still want to ski. It's not exactly mountainous terrain, so don't expect any thrills and spills here, but then again that makes it perfect for young children who just want to get a taste of skiing and maybe build a snowman or two.

2) Yuehai Park SkiingView In Map
Yuehai is located inside Yinchuan's largest and best-preserved natural ecological wetland park. As such the slope is not steep (or long), so perfect for beginners. While the ski area is nothing special (especially if you've skied on a real mountain before), it can make for a fun day out nonetheless especially if you take advantage of the other activities on offer such as ice skating on the adjacent lake, ice chair scooting or spinning tops (it's a thing). Yuehai gets extremely crowded during Spring Festival so try to avoid coming here during the holidays.

4) Sand Lake Ski ResortView In Map
Skiing probably isn't the first thing you think of when you hear the name "Sand Lake", but when the lake is covered with ice and the sand is covered with snow, it makes perfect sense. Definitely don't miss the snow and ice festival that happens every year around New Year's Day, where you can ski and ice skate in between enjoying ice sculptures from all around the northwest region. There's even ice fishing, polar bear competitions, sledding, and horse-drawn sleighing.
