Shanghai Gongqing Forest Park 上海共青森林公园 View In Map

 

Gongqing Park is located in Shanghai's Yangpu District on Jungong Road. The park is known for its diverse flora, grasslands, lakes, streams, forests and bamboo groves. The most popular things to do here are BBQ outdoors, horseback riding, paddle boating and the mini-tram that takes you around the park. If you're interested in a more exciting experience, you can rock climb, bungee jump and rip-cord ride. You can also play tennis, soccer, archery and ride tandem bikes.

Special Recommendations:
Take the Japanese-designed challenge path, complete with bungee jumping. Gongqing is Shanghai's first eco-entertainment center. There are special BBQ areas and you can either rent or bring your own equipment.

Shanghai Binjiang Forest Park 上海滨江森林公园 View In Map

 

Binjiang Park is located at the convergence of Huangpu River, the Yangtze River and the East Sea. There are well-preserved primeval forests, marshlands and exciting trails. For people who are looking to escape the concrete catastrophe that is modern Shanghai, Binjiang Park is the place to go. You can ride horses, camp out, eat BBQ and have picnics.

Getting There: Take bus 81, 508, 602, 640, 793 or 962 to Gaoqiao. Take the special direct bus to Binjiang Park from Gangcheng Road. Or take bus 611, 968 or Gaosan Line to Cangfangbin Road and transfer to the Binjiang Park line.

Reminder: The park is very large and the temperature can drop very low in the morning and at night, so be sure to bring some warm clothes.

Shanghai Sheshan Mountain National Forest Park上海佘山国家森林公园 View In Map

 

Located in Songjiang District 30 km away from Shanghai, the park is split into an east and west section based around Sheshan Mountain.

East Sheshan: There are many historical sites on the mountain and there are new observation towers, a bath house, and Buddhist statues. You can see most of the park from the observation tower. The park also boasts the largest aviary in the region.

West Sheshan: There are several peaks that you can climb and from which a view of the park is offered. The French Catholic church also is worth visiting. The astronomical observation tower was built in the 27th year of Guangxu's reign (1902) and designed by Jesuits.
