Outdoor fun

1) Century ParkView In Map
If you are in Pudong and feel like flying a kite, having a picnic, or just want to soak in some rare sunshine, then head to Century Park. This is the largest park in town and there are plenty of activities for both the young and old. Take a stroll by the lake, rents some bikes, or go on a small boat ride on the lake. Century Park is a great place to go on the weekend and it’s not far from restaurants and cafes, if you need to take a break from the sun.

2) Riverside PromenadeView In Map
Riverside Promenade is a beautiful pedestrian street along the Huangpu River. It’s about 2.5 kilometers long. And there are plenty of restaurants, cafes, and locals selling trinkets. So come to the promenade and have a drink at a restaurant while you admire the view of the bund or have an ice cream while you walk along the river. It’s not far from the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, the Shanghai Stock Exchange, the Shanghai Ocean Aquarium, the Jinmao Tower and the Super Brand Mall.

3) Shanghai Wild Animal Park View In Map
Shanghai Wild Animal Park is a drive-through safari park. The park is located about 35 km from downtown Shanghai and is home to over 200 species of wildlife. This animal park is split into two areas, there’s a drive-through area and a walking area. The drive-through area allows visitors to sit in a bus and see various animals, such as giraffes, elephants, cheetahs, lions, bears, flamingos, and more. There are also some animal performance shows and a bird zone. It is similar to the Night Safari in Singapore.

1) Shanghai Ocean Aquarium View In Map
Are you a fan of sea creatures? Well, head to the Shanghai Ocean Aquarium for some penguin, shark and seahorse sightings. Located near the Pearl Tower; the aquarium has one of the longest tunnels that takes you through a kelp cave, shark cove, and a coral reef. Some of the sea animals you’ll see are seahorses, moon jellyfish, spider crabs, sand tiger sharks and spotted seals.

2) Oriental Pearl Radio & TV Tower View In Map
The Oriental Pearl Radio & TV Tower is that bulgy, pink-ish outerspace looking building that you can see when you look at the Pudong skyline. It’s 468 meters tall, has three spherical rooms and features three main sightseeing floors, observations decks, and a revolving restaurant in one sphere. There’s also a really great Shanghai history museum on the bottom floor. The major sightseeing floor is in the second sphere, it includes areas where there are glass floors and two outdoor sightseeing floors. There is also a space capsule on the third sphere and the Oriental Pearl Science Fantasy World is in the first sphere.

3) Shanghai Science and Technology Museum View In Map
The Shanghai Science and Technology Museum is located near Century Park. The museum includes various scientific exhibitions, tons of interactive activities, and even a few IMAX theaters. An exhibit that is unique to this museum is called “Spectrum of Life” which is supposed to replicate the scenery of Yunnan Province. This museum can feel fairly crowded on the weekend, so make sure to get there early.

Shopping & Dinning

1) AP Plaza View In Map
If you love haggling then make sure to check out AP Plaza, aka the fake market. There are stalls after stalls of fake bags, shoes, watches, etc. These faux designer goods look identical to the real thing, but don’t be fooled, they’re not real! A lot of shopkeepers will try charging a rather high price for the goods they are selling. However, keep in mind that you can get some of this stuff for really cheap. As a rule of thumb, whatever price they give you, divide it by four. If you’re persistent you could end up paying even less than half of the original asking price. There are also a few local restaurants in this underground subway station/plaza, as well as a few non-local places, such as KFC and Latina.

2) IFC MallView In Map
The IFC Mall is a massive shopping centre and commercial building complex. It includes some of the most expensive luxury stores such as Gucci and Prada. There’s even an international grocery store on the bottom floor and plenty of fancy, and not so fancy, restaurants including a Morton’s steakhouse. This mall also has an underground Apple store. It is huge and has almost everything a person needs, including serviced apartments.

3) Jinyan Road
If you walk down this road, you may find yourself wondering if you’re even in China. Walk on Jinyan Road from Jinxiu Road, to just passed Jinkang Road and you’ll see an assortment of restaurants, cafes, shops and educational centres. Some of the restaurants include City Bull, Papa John’s, La Bomba, as well as a Starbucks along the stream. It’s a very family-friendly area, since there are spacious apartments nearby and a few schools not too far away.
