Covering an area of 4.23 square kilometers, Wailingding Island (外伶仃岛) is one of the 140 islands of Zhuhai.

1) Wailingding Island rarely has visitors and thus is perfect if you wish to escape the crowds. The pristine beauty of nature is on full display here.

2) The sunrise viewed from the mountaintop is a breathtaking experience. Very few places in the world are better for watching the sun rise over the sea.

3) Catch crabs (as in the sea creature) in the light of the moon. At nighttime crabs infest the shores and you can have fun catching them on the beach.

Getting there

Wailingding Island can be reached by air from Shenzhen and Guangzhou. You can take a ship from Zhuhai's Jiuzhou and Xiangzhou ports for 190 RMB/person roundtrip. 

Where to Stay

Wailingding Island has several good hotels. The Russian Resort and the Xiangsilin Resort are two good options. Open your window and you can see the ocean. You can also rent a cottage for the duration of your stay. The prices at these hotels range from 200-500 RMB/night.

What to Eat

Wailingding Island's "three treasures" are not to be missed. The exotic sounding sea balls, dog's paw snails, and general's hats the island's main specialties.
