1) Guangzhou Butchers (Basketball)
The Guangzhou Butchers invites players of all levels to take part in a friendly game of basketball every Monday evening. Games are played from 20:00 to 22:00 at the indoor courts in Guangzhou Sports University. A membership fee is required for use of the courts, and after that,the cost of using the courts will be divided amongst players in the evening.

2) Canton Cricket Club (Cricket)

 

Guangzhou is well represented by cricket lovers from all over the Commonwealth who love getting together to sharpen their batting, bowling and fielding skills. However, Canton Cricket Club is in need of more players to help take on Guangzhou United every second Sunday at the baseball pitches of South China Normal University. To prepare for these big games, the Canton Cricket Club members hone in their skills on the alternative Sundays, meeting at 10.30 at the Zebra Star Bar. All the proper gear is provided for to play cricket and a tournament is planned for May.

3) The Guangzhou International Football League
The excitement felt on the grounds at Tianhe East Stadium every Sunday evening between 18:00 to 21:00 is something that cannot be easily compared. Once you step onto the football field, you leave the world of Guangzhou behind and enter a truly exciting global community. The Guangzhou International Football League (GZIFL) is an amateur football league comprising of 20 teams competing in Division A and Division B. Most teams are sponsored by bars such as Paddy Field, Elephant & Castle, Hooley’s and The Brew. The current season will finish in June and the next season will begin in September. 4) Guangzhou Taipans (Floor Ball)

First developed in Sweden, floor ball is a sport similar to indoor hockey, considered to be among the fastest team sports in the world. Friendly games are played amongst an easygoing group of people every Thursday night from 20:00 to 22:00 near the Guangzhou East Railway Station. Guangzhou Taipans also send two teams to an annual China wide floor ball tournament. Newbies are always welcome to join in the fun, but get in contact with the team well in advance for more information about the venue.

5) Canton Celts (Gaelic Football)
Canton Celts are based in Guangzhou and train every Thursday night, in Yuancun, however the meeting place is likely to change to a more central location soon. All players in the team were recently new to the game, most having never played it before coming to China, so everyone is welcome to join in. The men’s and women’s team have players from all around the world which also compete against other teams in China.

6) Guangzhou Rams (Rugby)
Guangzhou Rams are a highly social team with a lively mix of expats, Chinese, men, women, boys and girls. Participation is welcome from anyone who wishes to take part in the sport, with a number of highly skilled rugby coaches available to help develop players’ skills. The aim of the club is to not only provide a team sport for the local community but to also develop rugby in South China. On February 26-27th, Guangzhou saw the biggest club rugby event with five clubs coming from over China and Australia to play. Touch Rugby is played every Wednesday from 19:00 to 21:00 at Tianhe East Football Stadium. 7) Guangzhou Storm (Ultimate Frisbee)

Playing Ultimate in Guangzhou is a great way to be outdoors, get exercise and work with enthusiastic teammates in a spirited game. The group meets to practice with warm up drills and plays games against each other at the Guangzhou Sport University every Sunday from 14:30 till 18:00 (or sundown). The group also has a team which is currently in the midst of a five-game series with Shenzhen, played once a month until June.
