Hexing (和幸) is a simply furnished, homey Japanese joint with relatively cheap eats. The menu features a large selection of tempura and hot pot, but not much in the way of sushi. But don't let that deter you—with delicious crispy options like fried pork tempura with cabbage, it's hard to go wrong eating here. Recommended dishes: pork rib tempura (炸猪排), cabbage (卷心菜), steamed egg (蒸蛋), miso soup (味增汤), shrimp tempura (炸虾), pork rib hot pot (猪排火锅), pumpkin tempura (炸南瓜) and pickled cabbage (泡菜).

Located on the 9th floor of Chengdu's Chicony Plaza, Sakura Japanese Restaurant (樱日本料理) is a large space decorated with wooden Japanese aesthetics that give it a very relaxing and natural atmosphere. The restaurant is self-service and the portions are small but the food is very high quality. The thick salmon sashimi is particularly good and the salmon roe is always fresh. The restaurant's two standout dishes are the sliced sesame beef (which is especially tender and is served in a large portion) and the savory pork belly. Sarah Burr also features a wide selection of fish, many of which are prepared in an interesting manner: covered in corn flour, deep fried and served up without any extra sauce as a plain hot and crunchy treat. The fried rice cakes, served with spicy sweet chili sauce, are another delicious option and go great alongside a stone pot bibimbap.
